Arlen magic hike - A closer look at natural resources

back to magazine overview

The new hiking trail leads from the top station of the Lech-Oberlech mountain railway over Lake Libellensee past beautiful flower meadows at Schlegelkopf to Rud-Alpe and holds numerous enchanting treasures for interested visitors.

My colleague Hannes and I finally had time to visit the new nature discovery trail on Thursday. With the mountain railway Lech-Oberlech we went uphill to the mountain station. In front of the cable car we can already see the sign to the Arlenzauberweg. We agree that the trail is an ideal family walk. On over 20 lovingly designed stations, special characteristics of animals and plants are presented. The stations are partly audiovisual and inform the hikers about the fauna and flora of the Arlberg in an entertaining and playful way.

The sun is shining in our faces, the day is wonderful for this hike. We hike along the forest path and inform ourselves at the stations about worm fern, bloodroot and dwarf bilberry until we reach the beautiful dragonfly lake out of nowhere. Nestled in the middle of the forest, the enchanting lake lies dormant. Here too we are curious and test the stations.
Over a wooden bridge we follow the path through the forest and come to a small clearing with a beautiful panoramic view over Lech and the surrounding peaks. Rüfi head, omeshorn, warrior horn. We enjoy the beautiful panorama. Over meadows it goes downhill and we reach the Rud-Alpe. Beginning and end of the Arlenzauberweg, as the path can also be explored in the opposite direction.

After the hike, children can really let off steam on the Rud-Alpe, the animal zoo with white giant hares, dwarf goats and mini pigs or the large water playground and tree house!
Our summary? A great family hiking trail, although actually, an experience for young and old!
